| | The Scholarship Committee is proud to announce, with the approval of the AWC Board, our choice for the Scholarship recipients for the coming year. We had a tough decision as we felt that we had 5 really good candidates. After interviewing all five of them 2 stood out as winners. Here they are:
Christine Roth , a very dynamic and energetic young woman, has been invited to join the Dept. og Epidemiology at Columbia University for a year in order to do research on the relationship between nutrition and mental health. More specifically, she will be gathering information for her doctoral dissertation on the correlation between nutrition during pregnancy and the risk of delayed language development by the age of 3 years.
Audun Myskja received kr. 20.000 kr. from the AWC in 2001 for a study tour in the U.S. visiting several music institutes specializing in using music as a therapeutic technique in hospitals and nursing homes. He has been very successful in this area and in sharing his knowledge and experience nationwide. He is considered to be leading in his field. He will now be going to Boston to visit the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, the Berklee School of Music and several nursing homes in the area. His current project is entitled: Integrated Music as a Tool for Improving Care and Treatment in Hospitals and Nursing Homes”
The Committee has decided that the scholarship be shared equally between these two recipients. Each will receive kr. 50.000 towards their studies.
