Join us for a winter weekend getaway at the Gothenburg International Film Festival! The trip is is a smorgasbord of fun things to do including as many (or few) movies as you like. In addition to films from all over the world, there is a city to explore, delicious food to eat, and plenty of opportunity to socialize with fellow club members and with members of our sister club AWC Gothenburg.
Each traveler is responsible for her own reservations, so this is a flexible trip. You can arrive and depart whenever you like, stay in another hotel, see whatever movies you want etc. You may even decide at the last minute to join us in Gothenburg. However, if you want to be part of the conversation about movie picks, please register before January 14 (the day festival tickets go on sale).
The Basics
Pre-pandemic most of us took a late morning bus on Friday and departed Gothenburg late Sunday afternoon. Train is also possible. A number of us plan to take the train to Gothenburg at 10:10AM on Friday and to return on the bus that leaves Gothenburg at 4:40PM. You are most welcome to make whatever transportation arrangements that work best for you e.g. leave Oslo after work on Friday.
For lodging, we are going to stay at the Avalon Hotel. A boutique hotel with a nice breakfast conducive to lingering, it is also just one block away from the festival’s main theater Biopalatset. A second good option, which is also a stone’s throw from the main theater, is Hotel Flora.
