We’ve been looking forward to hearing from AWC member Rhonda Vespestad, and we’re delighted to finally have the opportunity.
Why would a young woman suddenly disappear from her family home? Why would someone enter a marriage they were never excited about? These are some of the questions raised in the plays of Henrik Ibsen, the Norwegian playwright often called the father of modern drama.
Join us for an engaging evening at Ginny Hubert´s home as we explore themes that remain strikingly relevant today; power, patriarchy, ethics, and social expectations, through two of Ibsen’s works: Hedda Gabler and John Gabriel Borkman.
The evening will include conversation, short readings, a brief presentation, and even a fun table reading together. No previous knowledge of Ibsen is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to join the conversation.
Rhonda moved to Oslo from New York in 2022 and completed a master’s degree in Ibsen Studies at the University of Oslo. After a 25-year career in Human Resources, she returned to her original academic passion: literature, bringing a unique perspective to the themes and power dynamics found in Ibsen’s plays.
We hope you’ll join us for this lively and thought-provoking evening.
